Andrew G Oltsch Debbie Duveen and The Millbanks are daughter of Nick Saloman plus the musicians of The Bevis Frond under another name. The songs are by Nick Saloman. Debbie’s singing is lush and lovely, a full throated and sweet joy. Songs, music and Nick’s lyrics, all captivating and of a great range. A favorite album. Caution: ear worms, such as Cryolove

about

DEBBIE DUVEEN & THE MILLBANKS
Are a new band from Walthamstow with a great new album called ‘Neon Classic’.

DEBBIE DUVEEN
is a beautiful young lady from North East London with a voice that will thrill and astound in equal measure. She has been singing professionally for many years, but this is her first foray into indie, pop, rock (or whatever it is). At 17 she was fronting the highly-regarded jazz-soul-lounge outfit Hex, who had a year long residency at London’s fashionable Quaglino’s. She has starred in her own one-woman play ‘Get Happy’, a stunning homage to Judy Garland which ran for two seasons at Islington’s influential King’s Head Theatre. She performed the title role in a major Scottish production of ‘Little Voice’ which also featured stars from ‘Rab C. Nesbit’ and played all the major theatres in Scotland. She has appeared in ‘Hollyoaks’, and she has provided session vocals for many bands and artists including The Volares, The Bevis Frond, Mary Lou Lord, David Barrett, Ron Haar, Neil O’Sullivan and many more. She has appeared on stage in front of thousands at London & Manchester’s Gay Pride events. She has even done pantomime! For years she has thought about starting a band and doing some gigs. Now Debbie feels the time is right to put her vast knowledge and talent for live rock music into practice.

Providing the musical accompaniment is a band of sheer quality known as
THE MILLBANKS
featuring the following artists: On guitar, PAUL SIMMONS. Paul was the front man of the uncompromising power trio The Alchemysts who toured with Jello Biafra, Mudhoney and The Silver Apples. On drums, JULES FENTON the guy who laid down a beat for Mansun, The Lightning Seeds, ABC and more. On bass, ADRIAN SHAW famed for his years with Hawkwind, Arthur Brown and Magic Muscle. On guitar and keyboards, NICK SALOMAN, the man behind the famed psych outfit The Bevis Frond. Nick has also guested with Teenage Fanclub, Oneida, Yo La Tengo, Arthur Lee & Country Joe McDonald among many others.

So prepare yourselves for Debbie Duveen & The Millbanks. We totally believe in what she’s doing, and reckon that with a bit of luck and a fair wind, something big could be just around the corner. Having said that, we’re completely realistic, and ready to accept that nothing could happen. If that’s the case, then at least there’ll be some great music on the way to nowhere!

P.S: Check out the video for her killer track ‘Cryo-love’ on youtube.
